Additional info/contents
Hildegard von Bingen composed a singspiel and a total of 77 songs, antiphons, responsories, hymns and sequences, all of which were intended for liturgical use. She also wrote the texts - confessions of mystical immersion - herself. The compositions are not only regarded as one of the earliest testimonies of medieval religious singing, they are unique in their visionary power and religious ecstasy. Now there is also a complete edition of their compositions in modern notation.
