Additional info/contents One of the most important and interesting pieces for the medium is the Sketches on a Tudor Psalm by the American Fisher Tull, born in 1934, from 1971. The work is based on a melody from the second psalm by Thomas Tallis from the 16th century, which was already used by Vaughan Williams in his "Fantasia for String Orchestra" in 1919 and is still sung in Anglican congregations today. In an ingenious way, Tull processes the wonderful melody, which he imagines to have been broken down into its components by the alto saxophone, in order to resurrect it magnificently in hymnal splendour towards the end of the work.
