Additional info/contents July 7th is known in Japan as Tanabata. Legend has it that a young man and a young woman, separated by the Milky Way, are only allowed to see each other on this one night of the year. And so, following this legend, every year on the night of July 7th, large celebrations are held throughout Japan.
In his work The Seventh Night of July, the Japanese composer Itaroh Sakai expresses the romance of this legend musically. The alto saxophone and euphonium solos inserted in the middle movement symbolize the two main characters of the story.
