Additional info/contents
Ireland has a rich tradition of folk music, including many expressive melodies that were sung or played on the harp by traveling musicians. This creative adaptation of an enchanting Gaelic song begins with a sweet, singing flute solo. The brass section then takes over the melody while flutes and clarinets provide a rich countermelody. The melody is eventually handed from section to section, giving all instruments an opportunity to play this soothing, reflective ballad. Gentle phrasing and good breath control are the key to bringing out this work's eloquent character.
