Additional info/contents	Acadian Festival' is based on three authentic Cajun folk songs: “Colinda”, “J'ai Passe Devant Tu Porte”, and “Mardi Gras”. ‘Colinda’ is a real ‘Cajun kicker’ and is one of the most popular folk songs. The tune is known for its lively syncopated rhythms. The mood of ‘J'ai Passe Devant Tu Porte’ is sad and expresses anguish and despair at the loss of a loved one. ‘Mardi Gras’ creates the mood of a carnival atmosphere with joy and happiness. The composer wanted to capture the flavour and spirit of the Cajun culture, which is still very much alive in the southern part of Louisiana. The use of special percussion instruments (triangle and tambourine), authentic folk songs and very sensitive composition expresses the mood of this exciting culture. Commissioned by David Hamilton and dedicated to the Scott Middle School Band, Scott, LA, David Hamilton, Director.
