Additional info/contents	Cyrano de Bergerac (1619–1655) was a French writer and soldier, made famous as a tragic hero by Edmond Rostand's play Cyrano de Bergerac (1897). Otto M. Schwarz's composition Cyrano (2008) for wind orchestra musically explores this theme. Through sonic contrasts—bright brass for Christian, deep woodwinds for Cyrano—the conflict between appearance and reality is emphasized. Roxane's theme reflects her inner turmoil. The composition is well-suited for concert performances, as it underscores the emotional depth of the original work through musical contrasts. (he)
