"Fandango" is an exciting innovation in the concert band genre and offers many great moments to showcase your ensemble's musicianship! "Fandango" was commissioned by the Bradley Middle School Band, San Antonio, Texas, under the direction of Karlos Elizondo, in memory of Eugene Edward Geimer, its band director (1985–2009). Mr. Geimer served as the band director at Bradley Middle School in the North East Independent School District from 1985 to 2009. His bands regularly won awards and distinctions at the festivals and competitions they participated in. Jazz bands were Mr. Geimer's true passion, and he founded Bradley's "Jazz University," which continues to this day. Many outstanding jazz bands and musicians emerged from this jazz experience. The Bradley community would like to dedicate this magnificent composition, "FANDANGO," by Carol Brittin Chambers, to the memory and legacy of Ed Geimer (1938–2022). A fandango is a lively couples' dance from Spain and Portugal that can be sung and danced. It is typically accompanied by castanets, guitars, and handclapping, and often consists of an introduction followed by "variaciones."
