Composer Tuor, Corsin
Difficulty level 4
Duration 4:05
Additional info/contents BBO Week is THE music camp of the Bernese Oberland! Every year during the spring break, a music camp takes place in Zweisimmen. For the 20th anniversary, Corsin Tuor was commissioned to compose an anniversary march. In the trio section of this march, Corsin Tuor used the well-known Aldeboden song "Vogel-Lisi." Although it was only written in the middle of the 20th century, it is considered a Bernese folk song. The song has become a trademark of Adelboden and is one of the most well-known dialect songs in Switzerland. Adelboden is a municipality and village in the Frutigen-Niedersimmental administrative district of the canton of Bern in Switzerland. The current name of the municipality dates back to 1409 (in the Adelboden valley) and probably comes from the plant name Adelgras 'Alpenmeergras' (Poa Alpina), the prefix of which was linked to the generic word boden, meaning 'lower-lying, flat land, valley floor, mountain terrace'. This explains the name of this march. "Poa Alpina" opens with an alphorn call, which Johannes Brahms used in the fourth movement of his Symphony No. 1. Brahms had already sent this theme to Clara Schumann in 1886 as a birthday greeting, with the accompanying words: "High on the mountain, deep in the valley, I greet you a thousand times!"
