Additional info/contents	In 2021, the Austrian composer Thomas Doss dedicated a programmatic composition for symphonic wind orchestra to van Gogh. The work, "Van Gogh," doesn't translate biographical events, but rather the painter's artistic essence into sound. In six sections—from the "brushes and colors" of Provence to the dramatic events in Arles and the "Starry Night"—Doss uses the wind orchestra as a "palette." Dense harmonies, unusual instrumental combinations, and rhythmic tensions reflect van Gogh's painting style. The finale ironically reflects today's art market, where his works are among the most expensive in the world—a stark contrast to his modest life. Doss's composition demonstrates how music can reinterpret visual art.
