Additional info/contents	In 1909, his brother, then bandmaster of the Invercargill Band, wrote to ask for a new march for an upcoming competition. Due to the urgency of the competition, Alex responded to his brother with a new composition that his publisher had just rejected. He called the march "Invercargill" and dedicated it to the people of that city as a reminder of the years he had spent there as a boy. "Invercargill" was an instant success and eventually became his most popular work.
