The composition alternates between introspective moments and energetic passages, recounting his legendary deeds. After a gentle opening theme that evokes a connection with the sea, a rhythmic fugue unfolds, recreating the frenzy of battles. A pirate choir introduces melancholic tones that develop into an epic hymn. The legend of his “feigned death” is reflected in this piece, conveying the idea that Barbarossa’s deeds still resonate between the waves of the Mediterranean today.
