Additional info/contents
Bright Dawn Overture was commissioned by the Swiss Wind Music Association as part of a project to renew and expand the artistic repertoire.
"There has never been a night or a problem that could defeat the dawn or hope.": this sentence by the English philosopher Bernard Williams inspired Franco Cesarini when composing this overture. In fact, even the darkest night is always followed by the sunrise and, metaphorically, man clings to the hope of a better future in every difficult moment.
Bright Dawn Overture is written in the classic form of an Italian overture (fast-slow-fast). The overture aims to be a hymn of hope for recovery after a period of great difficulty. A single theme characterizes the composition, passes through the different registers and presents itself, always changing, in new forms. In the middle section, the theme takes on an almost mystical character, while in the finale it presents itself in a heroic garb and closes the composition with a gesture of resolute optimism.
A piece that is accessible to the vast majority of wind orchestras, perfect as an opening piece!
