Additional info/contents	This work in big band style was commissioned by Franz-Ruedi Meyer for the Feldmusik Grosswangen. After the introduction, the main theme is presented by the flutes and trumpets (with harmonic mutes). The form follows an AABA pattern that is often found in jazz. The second chorus is entirely focused on the clarinet register. A short trumpet solo follows before the clarinets finish their solos. The introduction is recapitulated and expanded. The piece comes to a standstill before the main theme reappears and the work ends with a powerful chord. The title is a play on the term "wood wind" and the name Woody Herman, one of the most famous big band leaders of the swing era.
