It can refer to the first two leaves of a plant, which are often considered a symbol of new beginnings and growth. «Futaba» can also be used as a first name and is a popular name for girls in Japan. Both meanings of «Futaba» have the number two in common, which inspired Hitoshi Takahashi to create this euphonium duet.
