Additional info/contents Fanfare. The Englishman Edward Elgar (1857 - 1934) wrote this fanfare entitled "Civic Fanfare" for the opening of the "Three Choirs Festival" in Hereford Cathedral in 1927. In the original score for symphony orchestra, the parts of violin 1 and 2 are missing!

The prayer. This part comes from the "Requiem" op. 283 by Julius Fucík and is part 3, "Sanctus". One would not immediately expect such a sacred work from this Czech military bandmaster and composer of mainly concert entertainment music. But among Fucík's more than 400 compositions there are two requiems. His opus 283 dates from 1898.

Serenade. "Swan Song" opus 957 is the title of a collection of songs by the Austrian Franz Schubert (1797 - 1828), which he composed at the end of his young life and published posthumously. Number 4 in this collection is the "Serenade", also called "Ständchen" and "Leise flehen meine Lieder". Schubert is undoubtedly one of the greatest masters of the art song, and this "Serenade" has become one of his best known songs.
