Additional info/contents	Odyssey was composed for the St. Gallen Cantonal Music Festival 2024 in the 2nd category Brass Band. The piece is based on two musical themes: The first is a short fanfare motif presented by the trombones from the beginning, and the second is a chorale played by the lower brass at the letter B. A fanfare introduction leads to a majestic chorale, then an allegro that moves from a joyful to a more dramatic tone. A short transition and a euphonium cadenza give way to an introspective lento that highlights a cornet solo and is then repeated in a tutti. The piece ends with a turbulent vivace, with a reprise of the chorale as an apotheosis. An odyssey is a long, adventurous journey full of lessons. Meaning can be interpreted at first glance, but also as an inner journey, an introspection full of reflections and questions.
