Additional info/contents	Cuba's capital, Havana, is not only the birthplace of exquisite cigars, but also the musical home of many dances and styles that have found their way into our popular music: Cha-Cha-Cha, Mambo, Rumba and Salsa all have their origins in the Cuban metropolis. Since the globally successful CD "Buena Vista Social Club" (1996) and the documentary film of the same name by Wim Wenders (1999), the importance and influence of Cuban music have become increasingly apparent to the public. Lars Ericsen has paid musical homage to the cultural life of this city with his Cha-Cha-Cha "Night in Havana". The first, verse-like part of the composition is in a minor key and describes the dark, morbid charm of Havana with its largely dilapidated streets. This "nighttime" darkness, however, brightens up at night, when the bars are lit up and guests from all over the world end their day happily with live music. This is described in the second, chorus-like part of the piece in a major key. Oscillating between these two poles, "Night in Havana" paints a varied picture of the Cuban way of life. Only the cigar has to stay outside in this country...
