Additional info/contents The Zillertal Suite consists of three continuous, through-composed movements. The suite lasts about 6 minutes and is ideally orchestrated for our wind orchestras.

At the beginning, the highest mountain of the Zillertal main ridge, the Hochfeiler, is depicted with an imposing fanfare by the brass and percussion. The following gentle and calmly flowing section, in which the entire orchestra gradually becomes involved, describes the scenic beauty of the valley.

Opening with a ringing of bells, one finds oneself in the small pilgrimage church of Maria Brettfall at the entrance to the Ziller Valley. The cantabile, tonally in E-flat major, forms the tonally beautiful, hymn-like middle section of this composition.

And on it goes... with the Zillertalbahn. The waiting at the station, the start-up and the speedy journey of the steam train are described onomatopoeically.

For the crowning finale - forming a summarising bracket, so to speak - the initial fanfare theme is heard again - this time in fortissimo with the entire orchestra.

Apart from the nowadays obligatory orchestral apparatus, the two flugelhorn, tenor horn and baritone parts fulfil important functions. The horn part is in two voices, double reed instruments are not absolutely necessary.
