Additional info/contents The basis for the multifaceted original composition A BAVARIAN CROSSOVER is a "Bavarian Polka," which is particularly well-known in Germany and Austria. It is a traditional couple dance, whose name in Bavaria is simply associated with its origins. In Austria, however, the colloquial term "Boarischer" is more likely to refer to a peasant polka or peasant dance.

The dance forms the connecting element of the piece, which is divided into two large parts: In the first part, the composer perfectly captures the cozy character of the "Bavarian Polka" described above. In the second part, he then skillfully transforms the previously used thematic material into a laid-back reggae.

"Crossover," the fusion of different musical styles and genres, is not only the title and program of the work itself, but also the philosophy of the band "Viera Blech," which has now existed for over fifteen years. A BAVARIAN CROSSOVER was originally created for their CD "Serious?", released in 2020. and has now been arranged by bandleader and composer Martin Scharnagl for both wind orchestra and woodwind ensemble. Playing and listening pleasure are guaranteed with this creative piece! Incidentally, the "Bavarian Polka" is not only audible in this piece, but also partially visible. Prepare to be surprised...
