Additional info/contents The musical setting of the Staatz legend "The Black Woman" describes the content of this myth through musical timbres and moods, which reports about the Swedish invasion of the Staatz Castle. At the beginning one already suspects the disaster of this ancient legend and is kidnapped by a kind of medieval dance and a chorale into the heyday of the Staatzer castle. However, during the 30-year war, more and more Swedish troops moved through the whole country. From time to time the Swedes even pile up before Staatz and prepare to storm the previously invincible castle. For days the knights of Staatz and the population expect the attack of the Swedes, as well as a young maiden, who simply can't believe what is ahead of her. But after a few days of rest the Swedes start bombing the castle with cannonballs and storming it with troops. The Swede penetrates deep into the castle, where he plunders, destroys and kills. Fear and horror fills large and small. After this terrible attack, only the spirit of the young maiden, who has been floating night after night around the battlements and towers of Staatz Castle ever since, can still be heard through the sound of the bells.
