Additional info/contents	The “UN March” (Op. 1275) by the Austrian composer Robert Stolz (1880–1975) was composed in the 1960s as a musical tribute to the United Nations. Stolz was inspired by his friend Ralph Bunche, an American diplomat and civil rights activist who dedicated his life to fighting racism and in 1950 became the first Black person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Both men shared a commitment to peace and against discrimination. The march, which honors the work of the UN, gained wider recognition through its performance at the Vienna Philharmonic's 2016 New Year's Concert, conducted by Mariss Jansons. (© musicainfo.net)
