Additional info/contents	The composition "Archangel Raphael Leaves Tobias' House" by Japanese composer Masanori Taruya was commissioned by the Philharmonic Winds Osaka and is based on the biblical story from the Book of Tobit. The work was first performed in 2026 at the Komische Oper Berlin as part of the Ultraschall Berlin Festival and is scored for a top-level wind orchestra. The narrative follows the story of the Archangel Raphael, who accompanies the young Tobias on a journey. Raphael helps Tobias exorcise a demon, consummate his marriage to Sarah, and heal his blind father, Tobit, before revealing his true identity and returning to Heaven. Taruya translates this narrative into a musical dramaturgy divided into five sections. The work makes high technical and expressive demands on the musicians, particularly the woodwind and brass sections, as well as the percussion. It is well-suited for wind orchestras seeking a challenging and emotionally profound repertoire.
