Additional info/contents
I Will Follow Him
is a pop song from 1962, which became a worldwide success in different versions. In the movie classic
Sister Act
from 1992, Whoopi Goldberg alias Sister Deloris brings the life of the monastery and the congregation with her explorative, somewhat uncouth, but cordial way of life. Her message that the Lord cannot be served only with earnestness and devotion is conveyed by the cheerful soul title
I Will Follow Him
.
Originally composed by Franck Pourcel as an instrumental, the piece was published in 1959 under the title Chariot with the addition Mambo-Twist. Pourcel, who was classified as a representative of the music genre Easy Listening, had previously released a number of other records, meticulously numbered, as "Amour, Danse Et Violons" Vol. 1-16 (Love, Dance and Violins), all on the label La Voix de Son Maître in France. This edition was the current number 17. Also in France, and again as "Chariot", the first vocal version appeared in 1962, sung by Petula Clark, which received a gold record for more than a million copies sold.
