Additional info/contents	Robert Stolz received special leave in 1916, the year of the war, to conduct the premiere of his operetta "Der Favorit" in Berlin himself. Of course, the condition was that Stolz conducted in uniform in order to document the good understanding between Austria and Germany. The operetta itself became a failure, but a hit from it was soon to become one of Robert Stolz's most famous compositions: "You shall be the emperor of my soul". This song is certainly associated with the magic of a wonderful female voice, but for the breakthrough of the "emperor of my soul" a singer was very important: Josef Schmidt. Robert Stolz remembers: "Although he was only 1.60 m tall, he possessed the great, wonderful tenor of a giant. ... The power and beauty of his voice made it "his" song, although the lyrics did not quite fit a man."
