Additional info/contents
Meyerbeer, born Jakob Liebmann Meyer Beer in 1791 in Tasdorf near Berlin, initially gained recognition as a pianist. In 1815, on Salier's advice, he traveled to Venice. From 1831, Meyerbeer lived in Paris. While he had become an Italian composer in Italy, he became a French one in Paris. In 1842, he became General Music Director of Berlin and returned to Berlin as his principal residence. From 1838 to 1849, he wrote the opera "Le prophete," which was performed at the Paris Opera. In addition to the sheet music, a complete recording of the works is included free of charge.
