Additional info/contents	The cast corresponds to the standard American cast. There is no piccolo voice. The oboe and the bassoon are both in unison and optional, as they are always doubled in other voices. The horns and the trombones are set in two voices each. There is no separate double bass part. In the case of an existing double bass, the tuba part (in pure woodwind sections the bass clarinet) can be taken over in octaves. Pizzicato and arco playing styles must be weighed up. The alto saxophone is used solo at the beginning and in the middle section. A timpani solo is notated at the end. The percussion parts have no special features. The mallet part (vibraphone, glockenspiel, tubular bells) is obligatory at the beginning of the piece, in bar 31/32 (tubular bells) and in bar 95 ff (glockenspiel). The voice percussion 1 can be taken over by one player, then the bass drum would have to be played with pedal (two players would be better). The voice percussion 2 should be played by two players. Alternatively, the following must be considered: Cymbal knockdowns after swivels should replace the cymbals a due, the triangle may have to be left out or taken over by another player (if possible). The timpani part (4 timpani without retuning) is obligatory. The minimum number of percussionists is therefore 4 players, the maximum 6.
