Additional info/contents	Disney's 1996 film "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" is based on the novel of the same name by Victor Hugo. With a production budget of $100 million, the film set new standards in animation and addressed complex themes such as social injustice and discrimination. The film score, composed by Alan Menken with lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, is characterized by its dramatic intensity. Steve Sykes arranged the score as a medley for concert band. Sykes' arrangement is technically demanding but playable even for amateur musicians and is frequently performed in concerts. Such adaptations expand the repertoire and enrich concert band literature with modern musical styles. (© he)
