Additional info/contents	Inspired by Anton Bruckner's fantastic instrumental scoring in his symphonies, Thomas Doss has used several of Bruckner's motifs in Toccate e Fantasia. After a fiery introduction, a metrically uneven Toccata appears that is marked by Eastern influences. Like the mantra of an Indian guru, Bruckner's motifs are repeatedly hammered out through this part. In the middle section, Bruckner - organist and improviser - appears. Here in the Fantasia, improvised 'shades of blue' move into the piece, by way of contrast, giving it a Big Band feel, which, in the tutti passages also lets the chorale from Bruckner's 5th Symphony flash through. The Toccata closes the piece in a turbulent finale.
