Additional info/contents	The folk song "O du lieber Augustin" (18th century) originates from the Viennese ballad singer Marx Augustin, who offered solace with music and humor during the plague epidemic of 1679. The melancholic melody remains a symbol of Viennese life to this day. Gerd Kofler's "Variations of Dear Augustin" (2010) transforms the traditional song into a modern wind band composition. Created as part of a competition organized by the Austrian Wind Band Association, the work utilizes rhythmic shifts (4/4 and 5/4 time), solo passages, and dynamic contrasts to offer a multifaceted interpretation of the theme.
