Additional info/contents	Between 1894 and 1910, Paul Gilson composed six major works for the Fanfare Wagnérienne. The Fanfare Wagnérienne was a large brass ensemble composed of students from the Brussels Conservatory. It was conducted by Henri Séha from 1894 to 1910 and the instrumentation varied depending on the number of students, from a minimum of 12 players (1897) to a maximum of 23 players (1901). "Variations Symphoniques" is Gilson's masterpiece of absolute instrumental music. In this extensive work he combines his most original and imaginative ideas with an exceptionally rich and personal palette of colors.
