Additional info/contents A ring of huge stones has stood in the south-west of England for almost 3500 years: Stonehenge. The work of the same name by Jan Van der Roost brings mystical moods and images around the ancient site to life in a musical way. The main motif of five notes runs through the entire work and symbolizes the horseshoe-shaped inner ring of the huge stone circle. Later, five vocal soloists and a sung choir of druids and monks recall voices from a foreign world. Stonehenge's unsolved secret captivated the composer and inspired him to create this equally irresistible work, which Tohru Takahashi has now transcribed for wind orchestra.
