Additional info/contents	The original version by Boyer, written sometime before 1881, has long been a popular draw for military and traditional concert bands. The dramatic opening and flowery second part give the march great dignity and pomp. Arranger James Barnes was amazed when he saw an original edition and noticed dramatic differences (especially in instrumentation) between the original and the later Lake edition of 1937. In this arrangement for modern symphonic orchestra, James Barnes has taken great care to preserve the character of the original version of this march. No harmony has been altered, no lines have been added and no tunings have been changed. Articulations have been clarified and made consistent throughout, a few notes have been added to the percussion parts (all in brackets), a full score has been created, a suitable cymbal part has been written for modern performers (instead of expecting the bass drummer to improvise with the cymbals) and a glockenspiel part has been added..
