Additional info/contents	Die vier Sätze dieser 'Armenischen Szenen' sind Bilder aus dem armenischen Leben: 'Morgenlied', 'Trinklied', 'Klagelied' und 'Hochzeitsprozession' illustrieren Stimmungen und historische Traditionen dieses südlichen Volkes, das aus Feuer und Asche seiner dramatischen Geschichte immer wieder zu neuem Leben auferstand. Die vorliegenden 'Armenischen Szenen' wurden vom Bostoner Tubisten armenischer Herkunft Sam Pilafian beauftragt und im Herbst 1984 in Cambridge (MA, USA) vom Empire Brass Quintet uraufgeführt. Das Werk ist mehrfach auf Platten aufgenommen worden und war Pflichtstück am 3. Internationalen Wettbewerb für Blechbläser-Quintette in Narbonne (Frankreich) im Mai 1990. The four movements which comprise 'Armenian Scenes' are pictures of Armenian life: 'Morning Song', 'Drinking Song', 'Song of Grief', 'Wedding Procession' illustrate the cultural settings and traditions of this southern people, who have been seared by their dramatic history, but have always arisen from the ashes once more. These 'Armenian Scenes' were created at the request of Sam Pilafian, American tubist from Boston (MA, USA) of Armenian descent, and were premiered in 1984 by the Empire Brass Quintet in Cambridge (MA, USA). Various recordings of this work are available. The work was a set piece at the 3rd International Competition for Brass Quintets in Narbonne, France, in May 1990. Les 4 mouvements qui constituent ces 'Scènes arméniennes' sont tirés de la vie en Arménie: 'La chanson du matin', 'La chanson à boire', 'La chanson du chagrin' et 'La procession du mariage' traduisent des climats ou illustrent des traditions de ce peuple méridional brûlé par son histoire dramatique mais renaissant toujours à la vie. Ces 'Scènes arméniennes' ont été commandées par le tubiste d'origine arménienne Sam Pilafian de Boston (USA) et créées en automne 1984 par l'Empire Brass Quintet à Cambridge, MA, USA. Il existe divers enregistrements sur disque de cette oeuvre (imposée au programme du 3e Concours international de Quintettes de cuivres de Narbonne en mai 1990). Gewicht: 0.192
