(letzte Mondfinsternis?) ist eine Fantasie über ein Deutsches Volkslied 'Der Mond ist aufgegangen' und illustriert die Furcht, der Mond könnte nie mehr aufgehen. Die Tuba, wie in einer Oper, spielt die dramatische Rolle der fragenden Menscheit gegenüber des schrecklichen Verfalls der Natur. Das einsätzige Werk verarbeitet das bekannte Lied 'Der Mond ist aufgegangen' in freier Form (Fantasie). Aus einer Introduktion, die mit den Basiselementen der Liedmelodie spielt, entwickelt und verändert sich das Thema bis zum Schluss, wo die Tuba das Kopfmotiv des Liedes als brutales Zerrbild darstellt. Der diminuierende Paukenwirbel suggeriert die Frage, ob die Menschen die Natur, hier versinnbildlicht durch den Mond, nicht schon zerstört haben. Jost Meier The music of 'Eclipse Finale?' is a fantasy on the well-known German folk song 'Der Mond ist aufgegangen' (The moon has risen). 'Eclipse finale?' is a piece which presents the age-old fear that the moon will not rise again. The tuba, as in an opera, plays a dramatic role representing humanity, which is questioning the frightening destruction of the nature and the environment. This one-movement piece consists of free variations on a folk song. The theme develops from an introduction made up of elements based on the melody, and then progressively is transformed until the end, where the tuba presents a brutal caricature of the principal theme. The dying away of the tympani tremolo poses the question: has mankind already destroyed the environment (symbolized hereby the moon)? 'Eclipse finale?' est une musique qui traduit la crainte que la lune ne se lève plus jamais. Le tuba, tel un personnage d'opéra, joue le rôle dramatique de l'interrogation humaine face à la dégradation effrayante de l'environnement naturel. Cette pièce en un mouvement est basée sur des variations libres sur un air connu. Le thème se développe à partir d'une introduction faite d'éléments de base de la mélodie puis se transforme progressivement jusqu'à la fin, lorsque le tuba caricaturise brutalement des bribes du motif principal. Le roulement de timbales final pose la question: l'humanité n'a-t-elle pas déjà détruit son environnement naturel (symbolisé ici par la lune). Jost Meier Gewicht: 0.254
