Die graphische Darstellung: der 5-strahlige Stern kann mit einem einzigen Strich gezeichnet werden. Pentagramm ist horizontal (linear) und vertikal (harmonisch) sehr klar konzipiert. Manchmal gerät der Stern ein wenig in Schieflage: III. Der 5-strahlige Stern bedeutet auch Drudenfuss, ein magisches Zeichen, das böse Geister fernhalten soll. Der Anfang mit seinen langsamen sich reibenden Sekundschritten und der Schluss mit der absteigenden Tonfolge der Tuba, die in einem stehenden Klang endet, vermitteln die geheimnisvolle Seite des Zeichens. Ein Tanz mit beschwörenden Gesten bildet den bewegten Hauptsatz. Pentagramm soll ein Beitrag zur Bereicherung der zeitgenössischen virtuosen Blechbläserquintett-Literatur sein. Jost Meier I. Le début, avec ses progressions de secondes qui se frottent et la fin avec la lente suite de notes descendantes du tuba qui aboutit sur une note tenue, transmettent l'aspect mystérieux du signe.
