Additional info/contents	Zur Förderung der zeitgenössischen Musik programmierte ich in meinen Konzerten systematisch eine Uraufführung. Als mich das Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (NYC) für eine Serie von Förderkonzerten zur Einführung der Bevölkerung des Staates New York in die Kunstmusik engagierte, bat ich spontan Richard Lane um ein Werk für dieses Programm und war über seine ebenso spontane Zusage hoch erfreut. Mit seinem gewohnten Geschick integrierte er in jeden Satz Sequenzen amerikanischer Volkslieder (in der Musik jeweils mit Titel signalisiert). Wann immer ich die Sonata spielte, achtete ich auch darauf, diese im kollektiven Gedächtnis tief verankerten Sequenzen hervorzuheben, damit das Publikum sie erkennen und darauf reagieren konnte. When the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (NYC) asked me to perform a series of outreach recitals throughout New York State I immediately thought to ask Richard Lane to write a piece for these programs. Richard was deeply committed to music education and to compose for specific occasions. I was delighted that he accepted to write this Sonata. An integral aspect of the Sonata is the inclusion of American Folk Songs in every movement of the work (their titles are written above these sequences). Therefore, I really had to be on my toes when playing the Sonata since many of the musical material could already be known by the audience and be on familiar terms with most of it. Lorsque le Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (NYC) m'a demandé de réaliser une tournée de concerts promotionnels dans le but d'initier la population de l'Etat de New York à l'art musical, j'ai immédiatement pensé à Richard Lane et lui ai demandé d'écrire une oeuvre dans cet esprit, ce qu'il accepta tout aussi spontanément. Avec son habileté coutumière, il a introduit une brève séquence thématique de Folksongs américains connnus (signalés par leurs titres) dans chaque mouvement.
