Askell Masson written for the 2003 Lieksa International Trombone Competition This piece is thought as a monologue, that is: played rather freely as to tempi and with the player´s own flow. The timing of rests, the ­changing of mutes, as well as the fermatas all form a part of this flow. Cette pièce, comme son titre l'indique est conçu comme un monologue, c'est-à-dire avec des tempi assez libres et un discours personnel. La durée des silences, les changements de sourdines ainsi que les points d'orgue doivent être inclus dans le concept personnel de l'interprète.
