Instrumentation: Bassoon Trio
The 19th century German bassoon prodigy and pedogogue is best known today for his bassoon tutors, likely written for his own students. This collection of six of his bassoon trios also show that he was a fine composer. These six pieces range from the most serious of compositional styles to works which show wit and a strong hint of parody.I. Serenade II. Der erste Ball mit der Geliebteh. Polonaise (The First Ball with the Beloved- Polonaise) III. The dansant im Landschlosschen. Polka (Tea-time Dance in the Little Country Manor- Polka) IV. Tanz in der Dorfschanke. Scherzo alla Mazurka (Dance in the Village Pub) V. Mitternachtliche Wachtparade. Turkischer Marsch (The Midnight Change of the Guard- Turkish March) VI. Eines Humoristen letzte Stunde. Trauermarsch. (The Last Hour of a Comedian- Funeral March)
