Additional info/contents At the foot of the Buchsiberge mountains, where the Stauffenbach stream flowing from Wäckerschwend joins the Altachen, stretches the cosy village of Thörigen. This is how the village is described on its own website. And with it, where the dangers lie: Thanks to the flat geology and the many bodies of water, the village is at high risk of flooding. The last flood occurred on 12 July 2016, the streets were flooded with water and debris, and debris flows occurred in various places. Numerous cellars were muddy.

The work "The Flood" describes in the style of a cinema film how the flood overtakes the village: First there is the intro, the film begins! After that, the picturesque village is introduced, everything is calm, no sign of a storm. But the idyll is deceptive: far away, a violent thunderstorm is building up! The lakes and rivers fill up, a flood is imminent. But back to the village: no one yet suspects what is about to happen... But suddenly the flood systems sound the alarm: the flood wave is approaching, the river is overflowing its banks! Now the fight against the water begins. With impure forces, attempts are made to divert and drain the water. After a while the water ebbs away again. Much is destroyed, yet slowly but steadily hope germinates again: The streets and cellars affected by the flooding are cleaned up again. The village shines in new splendour!
