Additional info/contents Study Piece: Portrait of a Lady was composed 1941 for piano. The original title was Insistences: A Portrait of Louise Crane. Thomson described Miss Crane as an unmarried woman in her sixties when the portrait was made. Thomson arranged this portrait for band in 1969 for the Harvard University Band.
