Additional info/contents	The arrangement of the overture Zampa for wind orchestra was orchestrated transparently, clearly and according to today's conception of timbre and freed from the thicket of earlier arrangements. However, the arranger did not go so far as to make the overture performable only with high-level instrumentation of the woodwind section (with alto, bass clarinets, etc.). Among other things, the flugelhorn was used in such a way that it supports melodically, does not dominate, but gives the body of sound warmth. The conductor still has the possibility of differentiating the sound by means of numerous notes in the clearly arranged score. This wonderful overture in early Romantic style, with ingenious melodic and harmonic ideas by the French composer Hérold, is worth being performed more often.
