Additional info/contents	Songs Without Words by Charles Young was commissioned by the Wisconsin Chapter of the College Band Directors National Association in honor of James Arrowood, professor emeritus at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. In a radical departure from march of contemporary band music, Young has captured the spirit of the Romantic composers who wrote piano miniatures that encapsulated a world of feeling into a single movement work. Songs Without Words consists of three lyrical pieces rich in color, counterpoint and emotion. Extensive solo work appears throughout in a piece that stresses the expressive nature of the wind band without empty technical show.
