Additional info/contents Seit ihrer Berliner Uraufführung 1755 zählte Carl Heinrich Grauns „empfindsame“ Passionskantate 'Der Tod Jesu' auf ein Libretto Karl Wilhelm Ramlers lange Zeit zu den meistaufgeführten Werken dieses Genres. Noch bis Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts konnte sie sich im Repertoire zahlreicher Oratorienvereine und Singakademien (allen voran der Berliner Sing-Akademie) behaupten, oft gleichberechtigt neben Bachs oratorischen Passionen, die ihr in der 2. Hälfte des Jahrhunderts schliesslich den Rang abliefen. Mit der vorliegenden quellenkritischen Neuausgabe (nach dem Erstdruck von 1760) liegt nach langer Zeit erstmals wieder eine käufliche Partitur des Werkes vor, die zur Wiederentdeckung dieser epochemachenden und für ihre Zeit massstabsetzenden Passion einlädt.
