Additional info/contents
Keyboard Kids Complete Piano Method by Carolyn Carson includes all three books in the series. The Workbook, 'Color, Notes and Rhythms', is designed to work simultaneously with Books 1 and 2 to reinforce what is being learned, containing fun and stimulating activities that assure the students interest is maintained throughout each lesson. The Workbook is a vital component to this course and should always be used in conjunction with Books 1 and 2.
Book 1 provides an ample reading experience in five-finger positions in multiple keys. Strategically placed examples reinforce preceding topics as well as reiterate major points.
Book 2 summarizes Book 1 by teaching simple songs that reflect the student's daily activities which promotes and solidifies their recently acquired skills. Keyboard Kids is currently the method of choice by the Music Teachers Association of California (MTAC).
KEYBOARD KIDS - FOREWORD
The Keyboard Kids series fills a void in piano teaching by emphasizing material that is suitably designed for the primary grades. This unique method published by Santorella Publications works together, creating flexible and adaptive lessons that are clear and concise. Each lesson supports the Kodaly genre of teaching notes and rhythms by using words and music in short, four measure lines to teach basic concepts. Carolyn Carson's Keyboard Kids approach is proven to be successful with a broad-range of students including autistic children.
Keyboard Kids Book 1 is intended to provide ample reading experience in five-finger positions in multiple keys. Strategically placed examples reinforce preceding lesson topics as well as reiterate major points. It is essential that the teacher encourage repetition in the classroom as well as at home. This will ease young students into proper study habits early in their studies. Playing each practice piece three times daily is required for practice and progress.
Keyboard Kids Book 2 successfully summarizes all that the students learned in Book 1, by teaching simple, lovable songs that reflect their everyday activities. Keyboard Kids, Book 2 promotes and solidifies each student's recently acquired skills. In order to enhance every child's feeling of accomplishment, we have provided a Certificate of Achievement to be filled out by their teacher after completion. Each student who sends their notarized certificate to the publisher will receive a congratulatory note, a certified stamp of achievement on his/her certificate from Santorella Publications and receive a complimentary Easy Favorite sheet.
The Workbook, Color Notes and Rhythms should be used in conjunction with Book 1 and Book 2 to emphasize and build confidence in that which is being learned. Varied activities, which have been designed to be fun and intellectually stimulating, assure that a child's interest and attention-level are maintained throughout each lesson. These activities not only reinforce a student's musical knowledge but they also exercise basic skills in math and language.
We sincerely hope that you enjoy and have great success with the Keyboard Kids series.
