Arranger
Howarth, Elgar
Additional info/contents
Coperario was a composer with an identity crisis! He was born plain John Cooper, but it is thought he changed his name to the Italianate version after a trip to Italy. It may have helped his career, as he was became music teacher to several of the English nobility of the early 17th century.
Perhaps most famous as the author of 'Rules how to Compose', his fantasias (over 90 for various groups) became his most highly regarded works.
This short piece is a superb example of the arranger's craft, idiomatically transferring the original to the brilliant sonorities of modern brass instruments.
