Composer Bach, Johann Sebastian; Vivaldi, Antonio
Performer Zook, Jeffery (flute); Stuttgart Festival Orchestra
Additional info/contents Bach's intricate 'triple' concerto for keyboard, violin and flute is a challenge, containing much brilliant passagework. The less formidable slow movement was taken from the organ sonata No. 3. It is a companion to the Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, the first movement of which is included on this album. An extremely rewarding and enjoyable piece for study. Vivaldi's D-minor concerto was originally written for oboe but is equally at home on the flute. Both are Baroque music at its best.

Includes a high-quality printed solo part and a compact disc containing a complete performance of the concerto in split-channel stereo, with the soloist on the right channel; and a second performance in full stereo minus the soloist.

1. 'Triple' Concerto in A minor, BWV1044 (J.S. Bach)
2. Flute Concerto in D minor, op. 8, no. 9, RV236 (from 'Il cimento dell' armonia e dell'inventione') (Vivaldi)
